Twenty twenty four knocking on the door. I’ve been putting pictures on Picturelongmont for 23 years. In 2001 I was building a library of images of all the buildings up and down the main streets of Longmont. Google did better and soon after rolled out their street view maps. In 2004 I was taking pictures…

A statement
This image leans in the category of abstract. I’m not sure but last I checked it seems people like to put labels on things. I don’t. I like this for a reflection image. It’s also a good example of highlights getting over cooked resulting in some melting around the edges. Lastly, it’s a statement crop.…

Sometimes nothing
Sometimes I want to make a picture of nothing. In this case a reflection of something. How about something shiny. They do this kind of thing all the time when like testing a new lens for sharpness. I was testing my patience.

Condo in snow
Looks peaceful with the snow and early day sunlight painting shadows across everything. I like how the sun and shadows on the roof contrast with those on the ground.

Not again . .
If soft focus trees turn you off, then Picturelongmont might be a disappointment for you. I’m coming to terms with my fascination of forests as subjects here. I like the colors, the lines, the contrast of light and shadow. I like to put paint and distort filters on the images. This forest scene is from…

Be very careful
There are many cats watching you. They are patient. They sit and watch, learning your ways. You are not safe anywhere on or near the ground. I tell the bluebirds this warning every time I see them. I hope for the birds to be smarter than the cats.

Broken tree 2
Windstorm, windblast, tornado and several trees broke down that day. That was July. This image made the following October.

The old maple
The maple is one of my favorite trees at the condo. I like its looks. But it is a dirty tree. In the spring it spits out leaf shoots that cover the ground and get stuck in everything. Leaves fall constantly. All year. The twirly seed flyers fall constantly and plug up everything. I have…

Now with canvas
I like the canvas filter. Don’t use it too much. I like it here on the west wood in winter stand. We’re getting some rain this morning.

Dawn of our day
We’re on the western edge of the eastern time zone. Yesterday was truly the shortest day of our year. I feel the days ahead getting longer starting now.

good morning all
Fairly early morning with Ollie out at the feeding station. There’s a slope to this image. I think the horizon is level, but the yard appears to slope upward because of how I was holding the camera at an angle. I like pictures of the woods to contain a bit of mystery. Something not quite…

Mixed media
Display of sunflowers at the Lume Indianapolis featuring Van Gogh. Display consists of physical plants mixed over mirror panels to create illusion of great fields of sunflowers. We really enjoyed the Lume.

Sunshine on my shoulders
Keeping this theme of spring going. We are having exceptional weather the past few days. Blue sky, no wind, and temps in the mid-sixties. Dad used to say, “we’ve been fortunate with the weather”. I agree with him, and we have indeed been fortunate. Even still, it is winter, and nature’s colors are muted for…

Bill’s redbud tree
The peak of spring. It lasts so briefly you wouldn’t believe it even existed if not for writers, painters, photographers and all artists that capture it at a moment to savor throughout the year.
