  • Looking for laundry?

We went looking for this lavender farm but our ask for directions kept getting translated into laundry and we kept getting sent to the cleaners. We eventually did find it and it turned out to be a lovely visit on a lovely day.

  • What am I looking at

This scene has a lot going on which puts a burden on the viewer to the point they say, ‘what am I supposed to be looking at?’ When I captured the image, I was thinking vacation photo, something I could look at later to remember being there. We are on the grounds of the Frutillar…

  • In the wilds

Pictures are constrained by their frame boundaries. This scene makes me want to see so much more of what I guess exists there. But this is all I get. With this I look for a balance in the composition. Similar amounts of water and sky to rock and forest. A balanced flow of action from…

  • The surfer

When I make an image where the horizon is clearly visible, it’s important to me that the horizon is level in the published image. Our cameras have a level indicator to help get it square on image capture, but oftentimes for me anyway, the captured image ends up slightly off. When I edit an image,…

  • Babies, cats and dogs

With over eight billion people on earth, how many pictures of cats have been created? Babies, cats and dogs. These are the things we take pictures of. I asked AI what’s the most photographed thing and it responded with the Eiffel Tower. I changed my prompt from thing to living thing and it responded with…

  • End of day in the west woods

End of day the day we built the bridge over west wood branch. West wood branch bridge. Taking a picture with the sun coming right at you presents some challenges. I like to position myself to block part of the sun behind a tree or something. I set my camera controls for automatic because its…

  • They stand their ground

The blues want to intimidate the starling to get off of their feeder. Blues are meat eaters and year-round residents here at the condo. Starlings seem to eat everything, and they are also year-rounders. Blues travel in pairs whereas starlings are normally in large groups. Blues are fairly small birds but they do have big…

  • A place of enlightenment

Sedona Arizona. We rode the motorcycles from Longmont to Sedona that summer. Was such a good trip. Two days each way and then five days in Sedona. I took some pictures there but for some reason was not really happy with any of them. I loved the trip, but photography was not a big part…

  • Mid-March sunshine

This time of year the sun finds its way into the condo unlike any other time of year. Once the leaves are on the trees they shade the sun and earlier in the year the sun is too far south. But in this mid-March time, in the late afternoon, sunshine comes streaming through the kitchen…

  • Srtgm

She runs to greet me. Our Poppy.

  • Easy going drama

This is the second of two images made from this location. I like the easy-going foreground in front of the dramatic cathedral with clouded sky behind. Jackson Square New Orleans, Louisiana.

  • Of the fifth circuit

This image appeals to me. I like pictures that have symmetry about them, and this one does. We were walking along Magazine St. when I saw the fifth circuit court building and it appealed to me to take a picture of it.

  • Playing the music

Live music is better. We used to say that. It is true mostly. This trio looking and sounding good on the sidewalk.

  • I pay attention

One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. The last stance of the pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. Originally written in 1892, the pledge was changed, edited 4 to 5 times since then. The last change taking place in 1954 when the words ‘under God’…

  • Low low low

Daffodils bloom close to the ground so to get this squirrel eye view I put the camera near ground level and point it up slightly. I love these little first bloomers of spring.

  • In bloom this spring

After 3 years with my X-T3 set to make jpeg files only, I started shooting raw files again. Back then I was using Capture One for editing but I never learned to accept its workflow and I didn’t like paying the monthly subscription for it. So, I went to shooting jpeg only and use Gimp…

  • Let it in

Let the sunshine, let the sunshine in, the sunshine in

  • Make art, celebrate life

It’s happening. March 14th. Daffodils blooming. Sisters’ birthday. Mario and Garry of Laughing Jack playing an Irish concert at Traditions for dad and his crowd. A sure sign of spring all. I’m of the thought to make art. Celebrate life. Give thanks for this great land we call home and the people we share it…

  • I bring you fire

We sprung forward. It’s so dark in the morning now.

  • Tuesday morning in February

Canal street New Orleans, Louisiana on a Tuesday morning in February.

  • Memorialize to not demonize

    Monument to the Immigrant

  • The ones that get things done

How many of today’s teenage fighters will be memorialized in statues across multiple countries? Possibly ones that free a country or bring an end to war.

  • On the banks of the Mississippi

    New Orleans, Louisiana.

  • Also with you

Dreamy picture of the west woods in early morning, peak spring. A dreamy day for so many reasons. Love be with you.

  • We will live on

Downriver from New Orleans in Chalmette is the site of the January 8, 1815, Battle of New Orleans: Chalmette Battlefield. This tree mostly broken and missing, sprouts new branches from an old wound and says to me against a darkened sky “we will live on”.

  • Like maybe

Put yer card on the wall and maybe we’ll call

  • Reflections of my mind

It’s held inside reflections of my mind

  • Born on the bayou

Wish I were back on the bayou rollin with some cajun queen wish that I were a fast freight train a-just a-choogling on down to New Orleans
